2021 Ford Escape Engine Differences

When a cylinder isn’t required on the 1.5L, it will be deactivated in milliseconds to ensure a smooth transition. The 1.5L is also paired with auto start-stop Technology that will reduce fuel use.
Next up is the 2.0L EcoBoost, which is paired with five selectable drive modes: Normal, Slippery, Eco, Sport, and Deep Snow/Sand. This engine produces zippy performance with the eight-speed automatic transmission and can only be equipped with AWD. If you’re craving the top towing capacity that the Escape offers, the 2.0L EcoBoost equipped with the Class II Trailer Tow Package is the perfect powertrain for you.
The 2.5L Atkinson-cycle I4 Hybrid can be paired with FWD or AWD, depending on your preferred driving style. This powertrain will travel at a top speed of 85 MPH when in electric-only mode, and is paired with an electric traction motor and an electric continuously variable transmission (eCVT).
Then there’s the 2.5L Atkinson-cycle I4 Plug-in Hybrid, which can be driven in Electric Vehicle (EV) mode when charged. Charge with ease using the 120-volt charging cord and driver’s side port. If you run out of electric power, you can seamlessly switch to gas power.
